Jul. 10th, 2007 11:23 amHome today; I've been in Potsdam for four days, which wound up being plenty of time to catch up with old friends, and visit old places which had special meaning to me (those that still exist, anyway)(how did I ever survive growing up in rural northern New York without the Internet?) It's been good to revisit events from this perspective; to visit sites of adolescent angst, or childhood imaginings; good, also, to see that my friends from days gone by are doing well, or well enough. One small detail was especially pleasing: I visited a pond on the local college campus, where I used to catch water insects, ages ago. I stood on the bank in my old position, and watched water striders and whirligig beetles- and saw a wink of orange, deeper down. Were the goldfish planted here, or did someone simply release pets no longer wanted? The former, I hope; if so, it was a lovely surprise.
And now, home.
And now, home.
