This has been a good weekend for walking. Sunday, I walked (most of) the length of Broadway in Manhattan; I took the A up to 207th, then started heading south. I've done this walk several times before, often in the company of [livejournal.com profile] blergeatkitty and crew, and it was interesting to be doing it solo, in the late evening; to walk by familiar sites in the late evening sun. Due to an extremely late start, and several stops for reading/water bottles/snacks, I called a halt to the endeavor when I reached Union Square; the L service has been wonky on weekends, and I didn't want to risk losing a ride home.

Monday, I'd originally contemplated hitting Coney Island; instead, after spending most of the day plowing through the room and working on Harry Potter stuff, I started randomly exploring my neighborhood. I don't do this as often as I should; I typically head straight for the subway upon leaving the house (unless I'm on my bike, in which case I immediately start heading south). This time, however, I let the afternoon sun talk me into a stroll, which became a full-fledged walkabout; before I knew it, I was at McCarron Park, where I occasionally watch SCA fighter practice of an evening (hi, [livejournal.com profile] ubiq31!) No Scadians today, but the sun was warm as I walked around the exercise track, stretching yesterday's exertions out of my legs, turning the turqoise ring I got at the Grand Canyon on my finger, saying a fond goodbye to another summer.
