The exercise program is going extremely well, and I can already feel its benefits, on my body and on my general mood. I'm biking around 100 miles a week now, nudging it up in gradual increments (on the old soldier of a Ross 10-speed that went with me to my freshman year of college, back in 1987; it's survived three multi-day, extremely arduous long distance rides across extremely hilly countryside, as well as twenty years of recreational cycling, with a grand total of one brake replacement and one snapped chain- and yes, I do privately refer to it as "Rasputin"), working my up up toward an all-night trip to Coney Island, to watch the waves as the sun comes up. It's gotten to the point that I can feel my body yearning for the exercise; as 10 o' clock rolls around (I ride at night, since A) I often work during the day, B) there's less traffic, and C) it's much cooler), I'll know it's time to get on the bike, and go. My stomach is visibly shrinking; my overall mood is incalculably more positive- I'm singing along with the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack as I type this- and I simply have a great deal more energy at my disposal, through the course of the day. Today, for instance, I looked at the floor in our apartment's kitchen and thought, "Hmm- this could use a sweeping and mopping." That done, I rapidly reached the same conclusion about the bathroom- and then the hallway on our floor. That accomplished, I started hauling down piles of junk-to-be-got-rid-of that's been in our hallway for... two years now? Three? Moot point; it's out of the way, and now I'm doing finishing touches on my room, and smiling as I come across all manner of oddments (hmm, a contract for 20 shares in one human soul...). Once that's out of the way, I'll put on some more inspirational music, and return to the diffculties in which the Weasley family currently find themselves. It's a simple thing, but hard to put into words; I like my life, in a way I haven't for a while now. Funny thing, that.
