So, in the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie...

I'd like to pause for one moment and mention my eternal fondness for the UA Kaufman Astoria Stadium 14 off of Steinway Street, in Astoria. Ever since I lived in Astoria, right across the street from Kaufman Astoria studios *nostalgic sigh*, the UA Kaufman was my secret weapon against the Opening Day crowds; three times in a row, I was able to watch LoTR at the opening midnight show, thanks to the UA Kaufman. This time around, I got into the theater less than ten minutes before PotC started, and was still able to round up no less than five seats, three rows back from the screen. The stonehearted out there might mutter something like, "Well, of course you could get seats- who the hell would watch it in Astoria?" but I know the truth: the UA Kaufman has magical crowd-dispelling powers. Ph33r it.

So, back to the pirates...(spoiler-free) )

So, yes; got to catch up with [livejournal.com profile] missjanette and [livejournal.com profile] sola; shit was shot, fun was had. Thanks again, UA Kaufman.

Question for y'all: A recent article has posted some news that I find troubling: namely, that filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan has been contemplated as a director for Half-Blood Prince. Not being a fan of his work (he's actually rather good, overall, with character and atmosphere; plot resolutions that don't leaving me wanting to tear my seat out of its moorings and hurl it at the screen, not so much), this is, shall we say, a rather distressing notion for me. That being the case, and given that early rumor candidate Terry Gilliam has taken himself out of the running, who would you hire to direct Half-Blood Prince? I'm still mulling the question over myself; my first thought, perhaps surprisingly, would be David Fincher; he'd certainly do the story's darkness in full measure, although I'd be afraid he'd use NiN under the main credits or something. Lynch? Great on atmosphere, not so much on narrative conherence- although Elephant Man worked well enough. Burton? Naaaaah. Hmm... *ponders*

Who would your choice be?

ETA: On second thought, I'll go with Burton; he's been erratic over the last decade or so, but this could actually work with him.
