On the Oyster Bay line of the LIRR, between New Hyde Park and Merillon Avenue, there's a concrete blockhouse sort of a thing which is painted in a montage of images from 2001. I have no idea why, but it always makes me smile when I see it sitting there in a neighborhood that, umm, wouldn't necessarily make one think of Kubrick.

In Glen Cove right now, catching up with a friend who supported me through an excruciating time about ten years ago; although we never really fell out of touch, visits have become extremely sporadic of late, for a variety of reasons. Now, we're sitting here talking about movies, and it's making me think of 1995, and for once, that makes me smile. We're currently making plans for tomorrow with his brother, another close friend I rarely get to see, largely because he's been busy starting companies such as this one. Planning a somewhat longer entry about how my Fourth of July celebrations never go as planned, how chronic depression is far from the worst possible diagnosis in a given situation, and why my backpack is full of zombie movies, but that will have to wait.

(And welcome, [livejournal.com profile] tropism; always good to have a fellow photog on board :)

Just saw Terminator 3; I now have an entirely new respect for James Cameron's storytelling skills. Oy.
