Up, up and away!!!
Apr. 11th, 2001 08:51 pmWell, being the independent, misanthropic, generally cynical soul I am, as soon as I saw the general trend of people herding themselves into an online exhibition of emotional laundry lists and other daily trivia, I immediately said to myself- "Woo- this is for me"! After which I promptly... well, did nothing... until a certain kindhearted soul nagg- err, encouraged- me to join the Livejournal generation. (I think she was thinking more along the lines of my posting all kinds of scrummy goodness in her journal, rather than actually creating my own- but then, no good deed goes unpunished ;p). So, in the interest of wasting a few minutes of my time and yours, here's today's contribution to Literature for the Ages:
The back surgery went far more smoothly than could have been expected (and a tip o' the hat to Dr. John Mangiardi and the friendly folks at Oxford); I'm still happily loafing at home, idly contemplating both my eventual return to work and my upcoming vacation to sunny Georgia (of course, the way our beloved President Shrub is running things, I may either A) have far more unexpected leisure time coming up soon or B) have a chance to gain first- hand knowledge of the unfettered joys of nuclear fallout- but I digress).
Georgia is looking interesting- it seems that A) I'm traveling Easter weekend, which I'd originally forgotten (hey, it's been a while since I was in church- without smouldering around the edges, that is) and B) TWA has just been bought out by American- said buyout to go into effect the day before I travel- on a standby ticket, no less! Woo- excitement! I THINK it will all turn out all right- I'm just wishing there were a way to blame this all on Dubya, as well... (and he WAS behind my back problems- he WAS, I tell you! Get away from me with that!)
Other than that... swimming/physical therapy goes well, as witness my charming Eau du Chlorine; going to DT for the first time in ages was a true hoot, even if industrial music DOES still sound like two jackhammers in love to my ears; Dad very kindly provided an emergency care package of macademia nuts and Sim City 3000; Nestle (aka The Kitten 666) is currently happy at work, licking my discarded shirt- chlorine seems to be a gourmet treat for this one *shakes head*
Well, that's about it, as my writing desk STILL has not arrived, and I'm tired of leaning on my elbows to type... and a quick shout out to Snarf and JOLefay, for being the very first ones to claim me as an online friend. I feel so loved...
